Volkswagen Golf R MKVII
During the first start I had a grin that was from ear to ear and it kept growing once i took it out for a drive. The exhaust note is perfect and surprisingly for a non-resonated system there was no drone in the cabin which was a super +++. Performance wise, the car's response was rapid and extremely smooth.
One of the most highly-anticipated models in Volkswagen’s history, the new Mk7 Golf R, has been a huge global success for the firm – and it’s still awaiting release into the US market (due Spring 2015).

Built on the latest generation VAG chassis, dubbed MQB, and pairing the superbly flexible and powerful 300PS 2.0 TSI engine with 4Motion all-wheel-drive technology, the new Golf R offers one of the most sought-after tuning platforms in the VW family line-up and Milltek Sport has spent an unprecedented amount of time creating a truly impressive and comprehensive range of performance exhaust options for the R and all its various VAG sister vehicles.

The system is based around 3-inch (76mm) stainless steel pipe diameter. Milltek’s Technicians used advanced gas-flow analysis and extensive road/dyno testing to show this bore size offered the optimal blend of increased power with a perfectly-judged rich sound quality.

Milltek Sport uses only the finest Type-304 aircraft-grade stainless steel in the construction of all of its systems, which carry a lifetime guarantee for the original owner.

Milltek Sport developed a single system cat-back architecture for the range-topping Golf which is available with either a centre silencer (referred to as Resonated) or a centre silencer delete pipe (Non-Resonated). The Resonated option was developed specifically to meet EC Type Approval (sometimes referred to as TÜV certification or E-Mark) which is a legal requirement for sale into many European and a small number of Asian countries. EC Type-Approval restricts the overall volume an aftermarket exhaust can produce so Milltek’s engineers have used their acoustic expertise to produce a system that meets those restrictions but have focused their attention on the clarity, quality and tone their system produces. The EC system still offers the same performance gains and fun-factor as the non-EC approved system but is delivered with the all-important paperwork to stay on the right side of legislation.

The Non-resonated version (video below) is for customers who don't require EC Type-approval and offers a more aggressive sound but doesn't drone at any speed and perfectly complements the car’s sporting prowess but manages to retain it's cruising comfort and day-to-day functionality.

For customers looking to get the best possible performance from their R, Milltek Sport has also developed a range of larger-bore downpipe options which, when combined with the cat-back system, makes a full turbo-back system. Depending on local legislation, customers can choose between an ultra-high-performance 200 cell hi-flow sports catalyst, a catalyst removal section, and even an EC Type-Approved hi-flow sports cat.

Milltek Sport knows that looks are an important consideration when buying any aftermarket exhaust system and has chosen the beautiful quad oval tip. Both tip styles are available with either the shiny Polished finish or in the subtle and durable Cerakote Black Velvet finish.

Milltek Sport’s VW Golf R systems are now available from all Milltek Sport stockists.
